Disaster Relief Grants (NCPC & NCMC)

About this program

The North Carolina Preservation Consortium (NCPC) and North Carolina Museums Council (NCMC) provide Disaster Relief Grants to help collecting institutions in North Carolina recover from state- or federally-declared natural disasters (hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, wildfires, earthquakes, etc.; pandemics are not eligible). Grants up to $1,000 are awarded on a rolling basis until fiscal-year funds (ending June 30) are exhausted, with requests for any amount up to $1,000 considered and typically reviewed within about one month. Eligible costs include supplies, materials, PPE, and conservation treatment directly related to disaster recovery; indirect costs, facilities, and personnel are ineligible. Applicants must be institutional members of NCPC or NCMC within a declared NC disaster area, have legal custody of the affected collections, designate staff to oversee the project, and apply within three years of the disaster; awardees must sign an agreement and submit a 500–800 word news article with one photograph.
