Disaster Relief Grants

About this program

Union Plus provides a one-time $500 disaster relief grant to eligible union members impacted by natural disasters; awards do not need to be repaid and recipients may receive up to three grants in their lifetime (no more than one per year). Eligibility requires participation in a qualifying Union Plus program with the account or policy in good standing and meeting minimum holding periods: credit card—3 months; personal loan—6 months; mortgage, life/accident, retiree healthcare, or auto insurance—12 months. The applicant’s primary residence must be in a FEMA-declared disaster county/parish or in an area where the SBA is offering Individual Assistance, and claims must be initiated with Union Plus within 24 months of the incident. Grants may be taxable (Form 1099‑MISC issued for awards of $600 or more); to apply or inquire, credit card holders call 800-622-2580 and other program participants call 800-472-2005.
