About this program

The Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame offers residential Dissertation Year Fellowships to support advanced doctoral students completing dissertation writing, with awards generally matching the department’s academic-year stipend. Applicants must be enrolled in good standing in a Notre Dame PhD or JSD program, be Kellogg Institute Doctoral Student Affiliates, and pursue internationally focused research, preferably addressing global democracy and supervised by a Kellogg faculty fellow. Applicants must have departmental approval of their dissertation prospectus and submit a prospectus, work plan, CV, transcript, DGS letter, and two faculty recommendations by February 23, 2027. Students already receiving Notre Dame living-expense support equivalent to a full departmental stipend are ineligible.
