Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching

About this program

The Entomological Society of America offers the Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching to recognize the outstanding educator in entomological education for excellence in teaching, mentorship, curriculum development, and outreach; the award includes $500 and an inscribed plaque presented at the ESA Annual Meeting. Nominations are accepted only from ESA Branches (one nomination per Branch per year) and nominees must be current ESA members who teach at the community college or university level. Electronic nomination packages submitted via the ESA awards website must include a CV with specified sections (Background, Teaching, Service), up to two letters of recommendation (no more than one from a student), and comply with formatting and a 20‑page total limit (PDF/TIF/JPG, minimum 10‑point font). All nominators and nominees must sign the ESA professional conduct disclosure form; evaluation is by a point‑based judging panel, renomination is permitted up to two times within two years, and candidates are notified about two months after the nomination deadline.
