Distinguished Agronomist Award

About this program

The Canadian Society of Agronomy (CSA) annually awards the Distinguished Agronomist Award to recognize outstanding contributions to agronomy in Canada; the recipient receives an engraved plaque, a minimum 30‑minute speaking slot at the CSA AGM/conference, conference registration, and up to $2,500 toward travel to present. Nominees must be active CSA members with at least fifteen years’ membership, be near retirement or retired, have a distinguished record of service to the CSA and in Canadian agronomy, and have over 20 years of active engagement in research, teaching, extension and/or administration (contributions from outside Canada may be considered). Nominations may be made by any active CSA member with at least five years’ continuous membership and must include the completed nomination form and two supporting letters emailed to Jennifer Mitchell, CSA Executive Director; nominations are due by April 30 unless otherwise notified. Current Awards Committee members are ineligible, the CSA may grant up to one Distinguished Agronomist per year, and a member may receive each CSA award only once in their career (a Fellowship and the Distinguished Agronomist cannot be awarded in the same year).
