Distinguished Service Award (History of Economics Society)

About this program

The History of Economics Society awards the Distinguished Service Award to individuals with outstanding service contributions to HES and the broader history of economics community; recipients receive a commemorative plaque, lifetime honorary membership (online-only access to the Journal of the History of Economic Thought), and up to $1,000 toward travel to the HES annual conference. Eligible candidates have past or present significant ties to HES and demonstrate dedication, leadership, and lasting contributions to institutions supporting the community; nominations are accepted anytime and are reviewed by the HES Executive Committee in January (to appear on the January agenda, submit by December 1). Nomination packages must include a recent CV, a nomination letter summarizing achievements, and at least two supporting letters from other scholars; typically no more than one award is presented each year.
