About this program

The Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) offers the Doctoral Dissertation Award to recognize the most outstanding doctoral dissertation in information science from the prior 12 months; the winner receives US$500, a certificate, and up to US$500 toward travel/expenses if attending the ASIS&T annual meeting. Nominations must be submitted via the ASIS&T online portal by 11:59 pm US Pacific Time on the deadline (submission deadline April 1) and include the nominee’s name/affiliation/contact details, the final dissertation, and a letter of endorsement from the dissertation advisor; submissions are judged on importance to theory/practice, methodological soundness, clarity, and data quality. Applicants must have completed their doctorate between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026 and be current ASIS&T members in good standing; prior award winners, current Awards & Honors Committee members, and current Board members are ineligible.
