Botanical Society of America’s Kaplan Memorial Lecture invites nominations for a distinguished speaker to deliver the Donald R. Kaplan Memorial Lecture at the Society's annual Botany Conference (Aug 1–5, 2026, Tucson); the honor includes a $500 honorarium, conference registration, and partial travel reimbursement—nominations for 2026 are closed and will reopen in early 2027, and inquiries or future nominations should be sent to the Kaplan Memorial Lecture Committee via Heather Cacanindin (hcacanindin@botany.org). Ideal nominees are established scholars in comparative development or morphology who can synthesize work for a general botanical audience, possess a substantial body of research and publications, and contribute to demographic diversity; international nominations are encouraged. Nominations must include a short description of the nominee’s research, a list of recent publications, a brief statement addressing the selection criteria, and the Professional Conduct Disclosure Form from the nominator and any letter writers, and all nominees must adhere to BSA Guidelines for Professional Ethics and the Ethical Guidelines for Nominated Awards.
