Dorothy Howard Folklore and Education Prize

About this program

The American Folklore Society’s Folklore and Education Section offers the $100 Dorothy Howard Folklore and Education Prize for recently created works that help K–12 educators or students use folklore and folkloristic approaches in classrooms or other educational settings. Eligible works may include curricula, publications, recordings, multimedia resources, websites, or exhibits implemented or published within two years before the July 15 deadline. Individuals and organizations may nominate their own or others’ work, which must demonstrate educational relevance, audience engagement, contribution to folklore and education, and support for teaching and student learning. Nominations must identify creators and publication or implementation details, provide a project statement and access to the work, and include links or copies as applicable.
