About this program
The National Coalition of Independent Scholars (NCIS) offers the Dr. Haste Award (established 2023) to fund outsourcing of research-related activities—such as translation, indexing, proofreading—or to pay another researcher to undertake work when that is preferable to traveling to access a library or archive. Applications are accepted in three annual cycles with deadlines Feb 1 (decision Mar 1), Jun 1 (decision Jul 1), and Oct 1 (decision Nov 1). Grants are disbursed only via PayPal, a check payable to a U.S. checking account, or Zelle; contact NCIS (membership@ncis.org or info@ncis.org) for specific eligibility and application requirements.
