Endowed by Dr. Willmar Schwabe GmbH and awarded by the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research, the Dr. Willmar Schwabe-Award is a biannual prize of 10,000 Euro recognizing outstanding pharmacological and/or clinical research on medicinal plants and natural products, with emphasis on interdisciplinary, evidence-based phytotherapeutical and phytopharmaceutical studies. The award aims to encourage primarily young scientists (normally age 40 or younger) and supports work that advances clinical or pharmacological understanding of natural products. Eligible applicants are scientists or research groups from universities and other non-commercial scientific institutions; submissions must include up to three relevant publications from the last three years, CV(s), and publication list(s) submitted as PDFs via email to the society president by the stated deadline. A jury of independent experts together with society officers and a representative of the endower selects the winner, who presents the awarded work in a half‑hour lecture at the society’s congress.
