About this program
The American Anthropological Association offers the biennial E. Ohnuki-Tierney Book Award for Historical Anthropology to recognize outstanding single-authored books that examine culture as historical processes through ethnographic and historical research and critical use of social theory. The recipient receives an $800 cash prize and certificate. Eligible books must have been published in 2026 or 2027 by a university press or recognized commercial press and may not be edited volumes. Nominations due March 1, 2028, must include contact information, an electronic book copy, a nomination letter of no more than three pages, and the author’s CV.
