Education and Outreach Grants

About this program

The Society for Mathematical Biology offers Education and Outreach Grants of up to $2,500 to support mathematical-biology outreach events (e.g., science festivals) that raise public awareness and develop science communication skills. Funding targets projects with substantive mathematical and biological content that engage audiences without prior interest, include robust plans for evaluation, cost-effectiveness, and contingency arrangements, and where the Society’s support adds a significant element. Applicants must be active members in good standing (membership required for at least one year prior to request), aged 18 or older; student members are strongly encouraged and organizations may apply only if the directing individuals are Society members. Grants will not fund core-curriculum materials, routine program costs, general-purpose hardware or fully salaried staff, and applications should be emailed to the Society secretary at least six months before the activity (including the USA Science & Engineering Festival).
