Edward Guiliano Global Undergraduate Fellowship

About this program

The Modern Language Association offers the Edward Guiliano Global Undergraduate Fellowship to support transformative travel, research, conference participation, learning opportunities, and academically grounded community engagement for undergraduates in languages, literatures, and related humanities fields. Awards range from $750 to $5,000, with approximately 20 fellowships anticipated annually, for projects conducted April 2027–April 2028. Applicants must hold active MLA undergraduate membership and be enrolled full time in a two- or four-year U.S. or Canadian institution; projects must occur more than 200 miles from the student’s home or institution, conclude before graduation, and avoid countries under State Department Level 3 or 4 travel advisories. The application deadline is December 8, 2026, and students may receive the fellowship only once during their undergraduate career.
