Edward T. Cone Fellowship

About this program

The Society for American Music administers the Edward T. Cone Fellowship to support scholars at any career stage whose research addresses the history, creation, or analysis of American concert music (solo, chamber, symphonic), funding research expenses such as travel, books, and media resources with awards up to $2,000. Applicants must be members in good standing of the Society for American Music, and projects that have previously received certain SAM fellowships (Block, Graziano, McCulloh, McLucas, Thomson, Tick) are ineligible. Applications require the SAM form plus a project description (up to 500 words), a plan of work (up to 500 words) with timetable, and a detailed budget; recipients must submit a one-page budget and a final report to the Executive Director within one year of the award. The SAM webpage lists a deadline of “October 15” (no year indicated), so confirm the current deadline on the Society’s site before applying.
