About this program
Offered by the American Mathematical Society, the Elias M. Stein Prize for New Perspectives in Analysis recognizes outstanding contributions that introduce novel viewpoints, methods, or directions in mathematical analysis. The inaugural 2024 prize was awarded jointly to Marcel Filoche and Svitlana Mayboroda for their development of the "localization landscape" theory controlling eigenfunction localization. Eligible candidates are researchers whose body of work or specific breakthroughs provide new perspectives in analysis; nominations are submitted by peers with supporting materials and are evaluated by an AMS selection committee.
