Ellen Swallow Richards Award

About this program

The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS), sponsored by Jeffrey Wadsworth and Geraldine McCulley Wadsworth, offers the Ellen Swallow Richards Award to recognize individuals who help or inspire others to overcome significant adversity and pursue careers in minerals, metals, and materials. The award includes a $1,500 cash prize, an award piece, and up to $500 in travel assistance for attendance at the award ceremony. Nominees must demonstrate professional accomplishment or promise and meaningful contributions consistent with Ellen Swallow Richards’ pioneering spirit. Nominations are due April 1 annually and require a nomination form, a supporting statement of no more than two pages, a résumé or CV of no more than five pages, and two to five testimonials of up to 150 words each.
