Eminence in Research Award

About this program

The International Coral Reef Society (ICRS) awards the annual Eminence in Research Award to a scientist for an outstanding body of research over an extended period, broadly encompassing scientific contributions to coral reef science as well as contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion, mentorship, and community engagement. One award is granted each year and includes a certificate, an invitation to present at the next ICRS symposium, and an invitation to contribute an article to Reef Encounter; ICRS Fellow status may also be conferred if the recipient meets separate Fellow criteria. Eligible nominees must have more than 20 years post‑PhD, be current ICRS members and have held membership for at least three of the past five years (no ICRS service requirement); nominations must document how the candidate meets the award criteria and follow the Society Annual Awards submission instructions, with a due date listed as 15 February (year to be confirmed).
