Eric A. Ramos Small Grants In Aid of Research (SGIAR)

About this program

The Society for Marine Mammalogy’s Eric A. Ramos Small Grants In Aid of Research program provides one-year awards of up to $2,000 for direct marine mammal field research in eligible low-income countries and regions. Funding may support essential equipment, field-site travel, and other research expenses, with up to 25% available for a stipend; conference, workshop, and indirect costs are excluded. Applicants must be current Society members, nationals of an eligible country or region, and conduct research in an eligible location; students must also study in an eligible country or region. Preference is given to early-career researchers and applicants without prior SGIAR funding, and the 2026 application cycle closed June 30, 2026.
