ESB Clinical Biomechanics Award

About this program

The European Society of Biomechanics (ESB) awards the biennial ESB Clinical Biomechanics Award to recognize outstanding, clinically relevant biomechanics and mechanobiology research presented as abstracts at ESB Congresses in even years; the first author receives €1,000 and a certificate. Applicants must be the first author, be ESB members, indicate their wish to compete at abstract submission, and submit previously unpublished research via the ESB Congress online abstract portal by the congress abstract deadline (usually Jan 31). An ad hoc Award Committee prioritises eligible abstracts, selects four finalists to give oral presentations in a special parallel session (only first authors present), and the winner is chosen on the quality of the abstract and the oral presentation. Eligibility is verified against the ESB membership database (confirm membership/payment before applying); no award is planned for 2026, with a likely next edition in 2027 or 2028.
