ESEB Special Topic Networks (STN) Initiative

About this program

The European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB) supports Special Topic Networks (STNs) that advance networking in active areas of evolutionary research through meetings, workshops, courses, collaborations, and related activities. New STNs may receive up to €10,000 per two-year period for a maximum of six years, with up to two networks established every other year; the next deadline is expected in autumn 2026.

Proposals must address a timely topic distinct from currently funded STNs and describe planned activities, organization, feasibility, and expected benefits. Applicants must include at least three current ESEB members from at least two countries, identify an institution to manage the funds, and commit to at least two meetings and one contribution to an ESEB journal during the network’s operation.
