Ethel Newbold Prize

About this program

The Bernoulli Society, with support from Wiley, awards the biennial Ethel Newbold Prize (2500€ and a certificate) to an outstanding early- or mid-career statistical scientist for a body of work demonstrating excellence in mathematical statistics or research that connects substantive fields to advances in statistics; the recipient is invited to present at a Bernoulli World Congress, a Bernoulli-sponsored major conference, or the ISI World Statistics Congress. Nominations are required and the prize recognizes cumulative research achievements rather than a single project. A three-person Newbold Prize Committee appointed by the Bernoulli Society President reviews nominations, and the prize will not be awarded in a year when the nomination pool does not include candidates from both genders.
