The American Geophysical Union awards the Eunice Newton Foote Medal for Earth‑Life Science annually to an exceptional senior scientist for outstanding creative achievements at the intersection of Earth and life sciences that advance understanding of the Earth system, prospects for life on other worlds, or human well‑being. Nominees are typically established leaders in fields such as atmospheric science, biogeosciences, GeoHealth, global environmental change, hydrology, ocean sciences, paleoceanography/paleoclimatology, planetary sciences, or volcanology‑geochemistry‑petrology, with selection emphasizing scientific excellence, impact, and scientific citizenship. Nominations may be peer‑ or self‑submitted (submission window 5 January–2 March); nominators/co‑nominators must be active AGU members and all parties must adhere to AGU ethics and conflict‑of‑interest policies. Honor benefits include an engraved medal, induction into the AGU College of Fellows if membership criteria are met, recognition at AGU’s annual meeting, and two tickets to the Honors Reception.
