About this program
The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing (CASW) offers the Evert Clark/Seth Payne Award to recognize outstanding reporting and writing about science in any field by an emerging science journalist. The 2026 recipient will receive $1,000 and a certificate, with nominations due June 30. Applicants must be science writers aged 30 or younger and submit qualifying work for evaluation by CASW’s panel of science writers and scientists. Entries are judged on accuracy, clarity, insightfulness, fairness, resourcefulness, and timeliness.
