About this program
The American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) is recruiting expert readers to evaluate National Translation Award longlisted titles by comparing translations against the original source texts; evaluations are conducted online and carry a $50 honorarium per title. Appointees are added to ALTA’s roster and will be called upon during the NTA judging process between Jan 1 and Dec 31, 2026. Applicants must have expertise in the source language(s) of the works they assess and have published at least one book in translation; interested candidates should contact Communications and Awards Manager Rachael Daum (rachaeldaum@literarytranslators.org) with the language(s) they read and translate from.
