Explorers Club Impact Grants

About this program

The Explorers Club Impact Grants provide typically $10,000–$25,000 to support field-based scientific research and exploration that advances knowledge of the planet and its inhabitants, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis in spring and fall. Eligible projects span biological sciences, archaeology, anthropology, paleontology, earth sciences, ecology, astronomy, conservation, and related exploratory disciplines, and should offer compelling storytelling potential. Applicants must be at least 21, propose fieldwork-based projects of no more than 12 months, include a local collaborator, and demonstrate relevant qualifications, feasible methods, required permits, and measurable impact. Applications require a project description and budget, applicant and team CVs, two recommendation letters, a three-minute video statement, and supporting maps or visual materials; projects conducted in China or led by Chinese citizens are not eligible.
