Ezra Jack Keats Showcase Prize

About this program

In honor of author/illustrator Ezra Jack Keats, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) awards a single $3,500 Ezra Jack Keats Showcase Prize to a promising BIPOC illustrator to support professional artistic development (e.g., supplies, equipment, research, learning experiences, travel, creative sabbaticals, child care). Applicants must be SCBWI members who identify as BIPOC and have not been traditionally published. Submissions consist of three or four images without text targeted to one audience/genre—full color for picture books (ages 4–7) or black & white for middle grade (ages 8–11)—and are uploaded via the MY AWARDS tab in MEMBER HOME during the open submission window (typically June 1–30).
