About this program
The Weatherhead Center for International Affairs offers Foreign Language Study Grants of up to $6,000 to support Harvard doctoral students’ intensive summer language study abroad, including tuition, travel, and related living expenses. Applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral or similar advanced degree program, demonstrate the language’s importance to their research, and complete a program lasting at least four weeks outside the United States. U.S. citizens and permanent residents must also have applied for, or been ineligible for, a Foreign Language and Area Studies award; applications are due through CARAT by February 16, 2027.
