Forest Conservation

About this program

The California Wildlife Conservation Board’s Forest Conservation Program funds statewide planning, acquisition, and restoration projects that promote forest health, habitat and water-resource conservation, and wildfire resilience. Eligible activities include meadow restoration, forest thinning, post-fire restoration, and aspen stand enhancement, with approximately $10 million designated for Sierra and Cascade watershed projects. Nonprofits, public agencies, and tribal governments may apply; matching funds are not required, although secured cost share may strengthen applications. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for two- to four-year grants.
