Frank N. Meyer Medal for Plant Genetic Resources

The Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) awards the Frank N. Meyer Medal for Plant Genetic Resources to recognize distinctive long-term service to the National Plant Germplasm System and major contributions to collecting, evaluating, conserving, or using plant genetic resources. The recipient delivers a lecture at the Meyer Medal breakfast and receives a certificate, an engraved bronze medal, a complimentary ticket to the breakfast and CSSA award ceremony, and $2,000; the lecturer may submit a manuscript based on the lecture to Crop Science as the Lectureship-Paper with publication fees waived if submitted within 12 months. Nominees must be living and have at least 10 years of career involvement in relevant areas (exploration, evaluation, preservation research, maintenance, or outstanding administrative support); team nominations are allowed and nominators need not be CSSA members. Nominations are accepted annually from January through March 25, and members of the CSSA Awards Committee, the CSSA Board of Directors, and former recipients are ineligible to serve as nominators, nominees, or references.
