Frederic Fairfield Memorial Award

About this program

The Society for Marine Mammalogy presents the Frederic Fairfield Memorial Award at each Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals to recognize and support a student who develops or applies pioneering methods or tools in marine mammal research. The award considers both oral and poster presentations involving fieldwork, laboratory research, or both, and includes a monetary prize and banquet ticket. Applicants must be students who indicate on the conference abstract submission form that they wish to be considered for student awards; submissions are evaluated based on the abstract and the presentation’s quality, with emphasis on methodological innovation and potential to advance marine mammal knowledge.
