General and Education Trust (GET) Research Grants

About this program

The British Dietetic Association’s General and Education Trust (GET) funds research that advances the science and practice of dietetics, supporting project running costs, salaries and other project expenses; there is no fixed maximum award, though grants commonly range from £5,000–£40,000. Applications are reviewed quarterly by Trustees who seek two professional reviewer opinions; submissions must be received at least six weeks before a Trustees’ meeting (2026 meeting dates and deadlines: 11 Feb 2026—deadline 31 Dec 2025; 13 May 2026—01 Apr 2026; 9 Sep 2026—29 Jul 2026; 4 Nov 2026—23 Sep 2026). Eligible applicants are dietitians and researchers (particularly new researchers and those conducting practice‑supporting studies); applicants must agree to GET terms, supply CVs or professional profiles for the lead and collaborators, and comply with six‑monthly progress reporting and a final report. Exclusions include funding for postgraduate tuition fees, support for students in training, routine conference attendance (unless presenting/running a session), and purchase of computer equipment or software.
