Gold Medal Award (Society of Biological Psychiatry)

About this program

The Society of Biological Psychiatry awards the Gold Medal Award, its highest honor, to recognize pioneering, sustained contributions that have advanced knowledge in biological psychiatry; the recipient receives a $5,000 USD prize. Eligible nominees include scientists affiliated with academia, foundations, government agencies, industry, and research organizations worldwide; nominees need not be SOBP members, but members of the Honorific Award Committee are ineligible while serving. Nominations may be submitted by SOBP members or by members of other national/international scientific organizations (non‑SOBP nominators should contact sobp@sobp.org) and must be submitted via the conference submissions portal with a nomination letter (maximum 2 pages) detailing contributions and impact plus a separate list of up to ten key publications. Selection is made by the Honorific Award Committee with final approval by the SOBP Council based on scientific accomplishments, independence, originality, impact, and development of new concepts or techniques.
