About this program
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) provides grants for municipal landfill gas management projects that improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote landfill-gas energy recovery. Awards are made annually based on available funding, with unfunded applications retained on a waiting list. Eligible applicants are municipalities proposing projects at solid waste landfills that meet the requirements of 6 NYCRR Subpart 369-7. Applications are accepted continuously, and materials are available from NYSDEC’s Bureau of Solid Waste Management.
