2027 Call for Proposals: Fishery Research and Sea Lamprey Research Programs

The Great Lakes Fishery Commission is accepting pre-proposals for its 2027 Fishery Research and Sea Lamprey Research Programs, supporting basic and applied research aligned with Commission themes and priorities. Multi-year awards typically range from $35,000 to $150,000 annually, while pilot projects may receive up to $20,000 for one year; pre-proposals and pilot proposals are due January 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Academic institutions, Indigenous communities and organizations, government agencies, and private corporations are eligible to apply through research contracts. Postdoctoral researchers and students may serve as co-principal investigators but generally cannot be principal investigators unless their institution meets the Commission’s accountability requirements; proposals addressing Indigenous priorities should be Indigenous-led or include Indigenous partners throughout the project.
