Gustav O. Lienhard Award for Advancement of Health Care

The National Academy of Medicine, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, awards the Gustav O. Lienhard Award to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to improving health care services in the United States; the prize includes a medal and $40,000. Nominees should demonstrate achievement in personal health services (clinical and/or leadership), innovative or pioneering work, and impact at a national level, with sustained qualitative and quantitative improvements and evidence of overcoming barriers. A NAM-appointed selection committee evaluates nominations, recipients are required to attend the award ceremony, and nominations are currently solicited (listing shows "Open until May 20" without a specified year).
