Gwen Frostic Doctoral Fellowships

About this program

Western Michigan University’s Graduate College offers the Gwen Frostic Doctoral Fellowship, funded by an endowment from alumna Gwen Frostic, to support doctoral dissertation completion in any discipline. Awards of up to $4,000 may cover tuition, fees, materials, and dissertation-related travel for expenses incurred within 365 days of the award; computer purchases are excluded. Applicants must be enrolled WMU doctoral students in good academic standing who have confirmed candidacy, completed all requirements except the dissertation, maintained full-time enrollment in two consecutive semesters, and demonstrated progress toward completion within Fall 2026–Summer II 2027. Applications require a nomination letter from the dissertation advisor, program advisor, or department chair and are due March 17, 2027.
