H. Earle Johnson Publication Subvention

About this program

The Society for American Music offers the H. Earle Johnson Book Publication Subvention Award to defray publication costs for significant books on American music, providing up to $2,500. Applicants must be current Society members and the manuscript must be completed; the publisher (who must have agreed to publish the work) must submit the application. The award covers publication costs only (not research expenses) and requires the publisher to supply a statement of publication plans, a detailed financial breakdown and requested amount, indication of how the subvention will affect book price or author costs, list of other subvention applications, a brief CV, an outline/table of contents, and a sample chapter or excerpt.
