H. Robert Cohen/RIPM Award

About this program

The American Musicological Society (AMS) offers the H. Robert Cohen/RIPM Award annually for an outstanding scholarly publication based on eighteenth-, nineteenth-, or twentieth-century musical periodical literature. Eligible works include books, articles, and widely disseminated databases addressing topics such as music criticism, reception history, cultural history, and access or preservation. Nominees must be AMS members or citizens/permanent residents of the United States or Canada, and works must have been published in the preceding three calendar years in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish. Self-nominations and colleague or publisher nominations are welcome; submissions are due by April 15, with the recipient receiving a monetary prize, certificate, and recognition at the AMS annual meeting.
