Hans Albert Einstein Award

About this program

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), administered through its Coasts, Oceans, Ports & Rivers Institute and Environmental & Water Resources Institute, awards the Hans Albert Einstein Award for outstanding contributions in erosion control, sedimentation, and alluvial waterways; recipients receive a specially designed plaque and an honorarium whose amount is set annually by the ASCE Executive Committee. Selection is made annually by a joint committee of the two institutes, with only one presentation per year unless the achievement is a joint contribution, and no individual may receive the award more than once. Nominees must be ASCE members in good standing at the time of nomination. Nominations are submitted via ASCE’s nomination form and must include a nominator-signed cover letter, the nominee’s CV or biographical information, and two to three letters of recommendation; the web page lists an annual October 1 nomination deadline (no year specified).
