Harry Schnabel Jr. Award

About this program

The American Society of Civil Engineers’ Geo-Institute offers the Harry Schnabel Jr. Award, funded by an endowment from the Schnabel Foundation Company, to recognize excellence, service, and innovation in earth-retaining structures, including excavation support, permanent walls, and underpinning. The award includes an inscribed plaque and a cash prize, and rotates among academics, constructors/contractors, and practicing engineers or geologists. Nominees must have at least 20 years of experience and demonstrate sustained professional achievement, leadership, service, and implemented innovation; nationality and Geo-Institute membership are not required. Nominations, including a signed cover letter, official form, CV or biography, a 20-word-or-less citation, and up to three recommendation letters, must be submitted by August 15.
