Herman Skolnik Award

About this program

The Herman Skolnik Award, offered by the ACS Division of Chemical Information, recognizes outstanding contributions to the theory and practice of chemical information science (e.g., computerized systems, dissemination, indexing, nomenclature, SAR, data evaluation) and carries a $3,000 honorarium plus a plaque; the recipient is expected to give an address and typically organizes the Award Symposium. Eligible nominees are individual researchers in chemical information science who must be nominated by others; nominations must include a description of the nominee’s contributions, a biographical sketch, a publications/presentations list, and three seconding letters, and must be submitted by email to the CINF Awards Chair (paper submissions are not accepted). Calls open in the fall two years before the award year and nominations are due in June of the year preceding the award (e.g., June 15, 2026 for the 2027 award); selection occurs at the Fall ACS National Meeting and the award is presented at the Fall ACS National Meeting.
