Herman Skolnik Award

About this program

The American Chemical Society Division of Chemical Information (CINF) awards the Herman Skolnik Award for outstanding contributions to the theory and practice of chemical information science—examples include development of computerized information systems, editorial and dissemination innovations, indexing/classification/notation schemes, chemical nomenclature, SAR work, and numerical data evaluation—and carries a $3,000 honorarium and a plaque; the recipient is expected to present an address (and often organize the Award Symposium) at the Fall ACS National Meeting. Nominations, not paper submissions, must be emailed to the current CINF Awards Chair and include a description of the nominee’s contributions, a biographical sketch, a list of publications and presentations, and three seconding letters. The call for nominations is issued in the fall two years before the award year and complete nominations must be received by June of the year preceding the award (e.g., June 15, 2026 for the 2027 award), with selection made at the Fall ACS meeting the year before presentation.
