About this program
The International Association of Cryospheric Sciences (IACS) awards the Early Career Scientist (ECS) Prize—a biennial cash award of €1,000 to two early-career scientists judged to have published the best scientific papers on a cryospheric subject. Recipients are selected by an independent evaluation committee based on papers published within the two-year window immediately preceding the award (e.g., 2023–2024 for the 2025 prize). Eligible candidates are early-career researchers with qualifying publications; awardees must be IACS members by the time the prize is received.
