ICRS Early-Career Scientist Award

About this program

The International Coral Reef Society (ICRS) annually awards the ICRS Early-Career Scientist Award to recognize excellence in coral reef research and significant contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion, mentorship, and community engagement; the recipient receives a certificate, an invitation to present at the next ICRS symposium, an invitation to contribute an article to Reef Encounters, and may be considered for ICRS Fellow status. Applicants must be early-career scientists within 10 years of their PhD (extensions for extenuating circumstances allowed with a brief addendum) and current ICRS members with at least 2 years of membership in the past five years; no ICRS service requirement applies. Nominations must document how the nominee’s research and DEI/mentorship/community contributions compare to opportunities in their research environment; nomination details are listed under Society Annual Awards and submissions are due February 15 (year specified on the announcement).
