About this program

The IEEE Photonics Society Laser Instrumentation Award recognizes an individual or team of up to three contributors whose laser-based or electro-optical instrumentation has enabled major new measurement or process capabilities in industrial, biomedical, avionics, or metrology applications. Recipients receive a certificate and honorarium for eligible innovations such as laser interferometers, optical gyroscopes, optical coherence tomography, and laser Doppler velocimetry; devices developed solely to characterize optical components or fibers are not eligible. Nominees must be active IEEE Photonics Society members, and submissions must include an achievement statement, career and technical impact description, 20-word citation, three-page CV, and two to three endorsement letters. Nominations are accepted April 15–May 31, with all materials due by May 31.
