About this program

The Center for Political Studies (Institute for Social Research) at the University of Michigan offers the Tessler Fellows Fund 2026, providing up to $6,000 to support a U‑M Political Science graduate student's fieldwork or data collection (including dissertation-related quantitative or qualitative work), with preference for comparative politics. Eligible applicants are graduate students in the Department of Political Science who are being mentored by CPS/ISR faculty; preference is given to projects that are full collaborations with faculty, especially junior faculty. Applications must include a CV, a two-page single-spaced project narrative (excluding references) with specified header information and a simple budget by broad categories, plus brief (3–5 sentence) answers to cover-sheet questions; the listed faculty mentor will receive a copy of the application and may be asked for a reference. Recipients must submit a 2–3 page report after project completion; internal submission deadline is 2026-02-09.
