University of Michigan’s Stone Center for Inequality Dynamics (CID) invites UM graduate students to apply for the 2026–2027 Emerging Inequality Scholar Award, providing a one-semester appointment equivalent to a 50% GSRA, one semester of tuition and GradCare health/dental insurance, $3,000 in research support, and access to flexible workspace to advance research on socio-economic inequality and engage in CID’s intellectual community. Awardees must participate in CID lab meetings and events, present project goals early in the term, submit a draft paper within one year, use the award within one year, and may not hold it concurrently with another fellowship. Eligible applicants are University of Michigan graduate students who will have achieved candidacy by the award start date (international students encouraged); applications require a CV, a project proposal of up to two single‑spaced pages (plus one page for references/tables/figures), and one letter of recommendation from the dissertation committee chair or primary academic advisor, with selection based on proposal promise, applicant preparedness, and fit with CID priority areas.
