About this program

The Survey Research Center at the Institute for Social Research (University of Michigan) offers the Angus Campbell Scholars Fund to provide research awards—up to $11,000—to University of Michigan graduate students studying quality of life and psychological well‑being, including measurement and determinants (work, family, health, place) and political behavior/identification across gender or race, domestically or internationally. Eligible applicants are UM graduate students whose projects align with Campbell’s work; awards support salary/living expenses, travel for data collection or collaboration, acquiring datasets, and hiring research assistants. Applications must include a CV, a project proposal (maximum three single‑spaced pages, excluding references) addressing goals, hypotheses and design, budget and timeline, and how the project is inspired by Campbell’s work, plus brief 3–5 sentence cover‑sheet responses (Project Goal, Proposed Activities, Timeline, Expected Products and Outcomes, Budget); an academic reference will receive a copy of the proposal. Internal submission deadline: 2026-02-09; awards are generally to be spent within one year (one six‑month extension may be requested).
