About this program
The California Breast Cancer Research Program (CBCRP) offers Innovative, Developmental, and Exploratory Awards (IDEA) to support speculative, high-risk/high-reward projects focused primarily on breast cancer research. Awards support projects lasting up to 18 months, with direct-cost limits of $150,000 or $200,000 for studies involving animal or human participants. Established and new investigators may apply, but projects must represent a novel direction, challenge existing paradigms, and avoid incremental, duplicative, or overlapping research. Applicants must identify and meaningfully involve a breast cancer advocate by the letter-of-intent deadline and submit the LOI through SmartSimple.
